Mallorca, Spain

For summer vacation, we spent 10 beautiful days in Mallorca (Aug. 13th – 23rd). Thanks to a great hotel recommendation, we stayed at one of the most family-friendly places. Hotel Playa Esperanza was right on the sandy beach of Playa de Muro. The Sea was clear, warm and shallow for quite a long stretch. We had half-board at the hotel, so we enjoyed breakfast and dinner in their restaurant. There were many choices, and always something good to eat, even if we didn’t know exactly what it was. πŸ˜‰ Every evening there was a mini-disco for children. That was the highlight of Alex’s evening as he loved making a “choo choo train” and watching everyone dance. Following the mini-disco, there was a great mix of entertainment for the families/adults. We watched Chinese acrobats, a band that sang songs from the 70’s/80’s and a Celine Dion impressionist. Each night it was something different and we looked forward to what we were going to see. We really enjoyed our time there. It was wonderful to relax, eat a coconut under a wicker umbrella, and swim in the gorgeous sea. Alex has gained so much confidence just this year in the water. Each day he couldn’t wait to “go swimmin’ in the tub” (in his own words). It’s so exciting to see him try his very best at swimming and he simply couldn’t get enough of jumping in the pool to either Claudio or I. We had a wonderful stay, and can definitely understand why people keep coming back to this beautiful island, and wonderful hotel year after year.

This was the view from our room. It was so wonderful to see how calm the water was first thing in the morning.

This is a picture from the afternoon, when the Sea was still quite calm, but had a few waves compared to the morning.

One of the restaurants we visited for lunch had a moon bounce for customers just outside. I thought that was such a fun idea!

Dinner was always a relaxing time as Alex finished his food as quickly as possible to get outside for the mini-disco.

This was a sweet little girl from Norway. They would spot each other during dinner and couldn’t wait to dance together each night.

For a couple of the songs, the parents were called up to dance with their children. Alex did what most kids do best – ignoring his parents!

The goofball was too shy to dance, so he basically just stood the whole time with his mouth open watching the other children. It wasn’t until we got back in the hotel room that he wanted to dance.

The kid’s room, or as the hotel called it, the “Kindergarten”, or as Alex called it, “the bouncy house” (despite there not being any moon bounces)

One day we took a bus to Alcudiamar to discover the island a bit outside from the hotel and spotted this beautiful beach.

A very happy Claudio, who was so proud of himself for finding the most touristic hat in the shop.

I find this one hilarious with the man trying to get his sail up, and it looks as though Alex and I are staring at him.

We had a wonderful time! Love this hotel, the beach and surroundings. There was truly something for everyone and one of the most family-friendly places we’ve stayed at. Despite half of Switzerland coming with us, we did hear a bit of Spanish, which was refreshing. We’ll keep this one fresh on our minds for future vacations. πŸ™‚
