Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue!

Over the weekend, we celebrated the 4th of July with the American Club of Zurich at Restaurant Aldisberg. The event began at 11:30 and upon arrival, a Swiss bakery offered us mini NY bagels with cream cheese. Yum – They didn’t have to ask me twice! The outside area was complete with large wooden picnic tables, colorful umbrellas, a small playground and huge American flags.

At noon, the Star Spangled Banner was sung, followed by a live band playing festive jazz music. During a break, one of the musicians let Alex try out his drum set. Alex had so much fun that he simply refused to give back the drum sticks after the break was over. Apparently Alex was ready to play in front of a live audience! We finally pried him off the seat and made our way over to the playground, as well as to see the clown.

It was so nice to celebrate this special day with fellow Americans decked out in red, white and blue. It was a great day and we even came home with a prize from the raffle (a Starbucks travel cup) and a bag of freshly baked bagels.

I hope you and your family had a great 4th of July!

Great job, Steph! Boy, this is more patriotism than I saw in the USA, on the 4th of July! I love your outfits, too! So glad they have a group like this in Switzerland! It must really help you when you are missing the states! Do you know a lot of the people in the group? It must be so cool to meet people that have lived in different parts of the USA, also!
Thank you so much for sharing this with your friends and family! Your time and effort is well appreciated! Thank you for your strong support of the USA! We do have a wonderful country!
Love to each of you! Looking forward to seeing you, in the near future!!! Glad you will be having company, soon! I know that Kathy and Joan are looking forward to spending time with you guys, and meeting Claudio’s family!
    Love always,
    Mom

I love the pictures of Alex playing the drums!! He really does study everything he sees…not only the drums, but the people, too!! I love the way that he is looking at the statue of the older man. He really looks like he is trying to figure out if he is real, or not! I just love his different expressions!!
    Love to each of you,
    Mom

My favorite picture is of the three of you, as you placed in your main theme of this blog entry! This is so fantastic of each of you, and having the flag behind you, is so cool! I love the details of your colored outfits, even down to the tiny details of Alex’s socks and shoes!
    Love you,
    Mom
