Last Saturday Claudio and I spent the evening dancing at a summer night’s ball, while Alex stayed home with Grandma and Grandpa. The ball was sponsored by the grocery store Migros – hence the big tacky sign in the background of our picture – and took place in Zurich’s train main station. A wooden floor was laid out and three large chandeliers dangled from the ceiling, transforming the station into a ballroom. It was beautiful!
Two orchestras played (The Big Band Orchestra and The Vienna Ball Orchestra). In between songs from the orchestras, there were songs from impressionists singing Whitney Houston, The Village People, and Phil Collins. Every hour on the hour a professional dance team came out to perform a show, which included salsa, waltz, and hip hop routines.
We had a great time, despite a certain somebody not being able to find the rhythm of the music. 😉 And in case you were wondering, we didn’t do any practice courses beforehand, instead we found a few tutorials on youtube and improvised. It was great fun!
